BRITTON DEERFIELD-MORENCI Jan. 25
On the evening of Jan. 25th the Patriots faced the Morenci Bulldogs at Deerfield. Britton-Deerfield lost the nail-biter 55-51. Cambria Handy played a stellar game, racking up 23 points. Breanne Tanner and Kayli Bangerter followed with 10 points each.
BRITTON DEERFIELD-CLINTON Jan. 27
Thursday evening BRITTON DEERFIELD went on the road to take on the Clinton Redskins.
The Patriots came out strong, taking an early 6-4 lead. However, despite getting many good looks at the basket, the B-D offense struggled to make shots. The defense managed to hold Clinton to six points, helping B-D hang on to an 8-6 lead at the beginning of the second quarter.
Clinton’s efforts paid off, bringing the team to a 55-38 victory.
Cambria Handy led Britton-Deerfield with 14 points, six rebounds and three steals. Anna Burnor had 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and and four steals.
BLISSFIELD-IDA Jan. 25
The Lady Royals weren’t off to a good start on their home court on Jan. 25. After a 18-6 first quarter, they scrambled to catch-up for the rest of the game.
“Ida jumped on us early on Tuesday night,” BHS coach Ryan Gilbert said. The final score for the evening was 55-37, Ida.
BLISSFIELD-ERIE MASON Jan. 28
Obviously discontented with their loss on Jan. 25, the Lady Royals varsity dealt a huge blow to Erie-Mason Friday with blowout game that ended at 80-21.
WHITEFORD-CLINTON, Jan. 25
The Clinton Redskins bested the Lady Bobcats on Whiteford’s home court on Tuesday, Jan. 25.
According to coach Jay Haselschwerdt, “Whiteford was outmatched in the second and third quarter and eventually fell to Clinton.” The final score for the evening end up 67-39.
WHITEFORD-WHITMORE LAKE, Jan. 28
The Lady Bobcats varsity team dominated Whitmore Lake from start to finish that night and came away with a 66 -24 victory.
Becky Worden filled up the stat sheet with 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 steals. Megan Ortmann also added 18 points and 9 rebounds in the winning effort. Mariah Dupree added 11 points and Cheyanne McCartney contributed 7 assists in the blowout victory.
