PALMYRA — Palmyra Township replaced its fire chief Thursday, following an unexpected recommendation by the Palmyra Fire Department staff.
On Nov. 27 the PFD personnel cast their votes for officer positions. The board, which had the final say, based its choices on the results. Assistant chief Paul Rohlan was recommended to replace eight-year fire chief Doug Lolley by a vote of 14-3.
Treasurer Dale Terry said the board should take the PFD’s suggestion.
“When you give them a chance to select their officers ... I kind of trust that they know what they want,” said Terry.
Supervisor James Isley asked whether any PFD personnel present at the meeting could explain the outcome of the vote.
