Installing a new heating and air conditioning system that reduces natural gas and electric consumption in the school district has many obvious advantages. But one advantage proved to be very beneficial to the school district. Blissfield School qualified for a rebate from Consumers Energy. Representatives from the company were on hand at the Jan. 16 school board meeting to present the district with a rebate check for $104,511.
According to Teri Van Sumeren, Consumers Energy’s executive manager of business customer operations the district has the potential to save an estimated $41,000 in natural gas costs ad $26,500 in electricity costs annually.
The incentives are offered under the Clean, Renewable and Efficient Energy Act of 2008.
