A challenging season lies ahead for the Blissfield boys basketball team as a young squad of Royals looks to refine its game. However, at the Jan. 17 point, the team had only one loss and were racking up the wins.
“We have some inexperience in terms of playing time,” said head coach John Vandecaveye. “I think it’s a team that’s going to get better as the season progresses.”
Senior co-captain Josh Knorr will lead the offense at point guard. He is a balanced player, and with his athleticism and keen instincts, he’s sure to make some great plays.
Fellow senior co-captain Jordan Willson will start at center. Standing 6 feet, 5 inches, Willson will be a dominant force down low.
Other senior leaders will be Devin Moore, a forward who was among the lead scorers last season and is already showing great promise this year.
Garrick May is a quick and agile player who can “give some spark” to the offense and stay in opponents’ faces on defense.
Sophomore shooting guard Connor Vandecaveye and junior center Zech Bostick will see a fair amount of playing time as well. Vandecaveye is a skilled outside shooter, and Bostick is a big, strong player who, having sat a season out due to injuries, will be a key component of the team’s secondary.
