Coach Ryan Gilbert is counting on a tough, talented core of players to lead a small and inexperienced Blissfield girls basketball team through what will prove a challenging season.
Five of the nine girls who turned out this season are sophomores. Three are seniors, and one is a junior. However, Gilbert is confident his fresh yet fiery team will soon be polished enough to compete.
“Even though we are young, we have excellent talent and potential,” said Gilbert. “Ball pressure and execution of the little things are our focus for the early season, and we are hopeful that by midseason we will be in full swing. We have some excellent leadership from our upperclassmen, and that should help us through the early lumps.”
