New coach takes teams 'back to the basics'
The Britton Deerfield girls' varsity basketball team is going back to the basics in an effort to build a successful program. First-year varsity coach Craig Tanis is hoping his young team can compete seriously in the Tri-County this year. The Patriots were 3-11 in league play last year and 6-14 overall.
Tanis, was the junior varsity coach last year and had a few of the girls last year on his team who understanding his practice concept.
Developing skills and doing drills are the basis for the preparation the BD girls do at practice every day. The result just might be a more disciplined team with some good ball-handling capabilities that can compete consistently on any given night.
