Love was in the air. Well, Love the Local, that is.
The community sales event, put on by the Downtown Development Authority and the Blissfield Main Street program, encouraged residents and visitors to take in the shops and restaurants of the downtown area Friday afternoon, Feb. 12. Participating stores were marked with red balloons tied out front to alert visitors of where to shop.
Not only were there discounts available to shoppers and diners, punch cards were made available as well. If someone received 10 punches on their card from participating businesses, they were entered into a drawing for a gift basket.
Overall, Main Street manager Michael Sessions said he believes Love the Local had a positive turn out.
“The event went well,” he said. “We had a strong showing. Since it was a first-time retail event, it was successful. It kind of gave the visitors an opportunity to come and see what we have downtown.”
